BikePortland is reporting on a study done by the University of Wisconsin-Madison that reveals that bike tourism has huge economic benefits to the state.

The expansive study found that bike tourism and related industries puts $1.5 billion into the economy every year and creates 13,000 jobs- more benefits than the hordes of deer hunters bring to the state every year.

It also looked at the health impacts of biking, showing how a more active lifestyle helps reduce medical costs.
