Have a story to tell? Be part of a national oral history project

Drew Dakessian

Do you have a story to tell? Care to have it immortalized in the Library of Congress?

Later this summer, Storycorp, a national project that seeks to celebrate the lives’ of ordinary people by recording their stories, will be visiting Multnomah County Library, and is currently seeking people to share their histories, especially stories about the intersection of library and community. The stories will be archived in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, and a couple will be broadcast on NPR.

However, because of limited time and resources, Storycorp can only record 18 stories during a three day period beginning August 12. Individuals or pairs interested in participating in the project can submit their story for consideration by calling 503-988-5402.

Storycorp is looking for stories about meaningful experiences between families and friends. A key part of the experience is being interviewed by someone close to you, and being able to ask questions you might not have ever asked.
