The Urban League of Portland will host a picnic for its 65th anniversary celebration at Peninsula Park in north Portland on Sunday, Aug. 8 from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The picnic is part of a series of events marking the milestone anniversary of the direct service, civil rights and advocacy organization.
A pictorial history of the local organization and Portland’s African American community will be presented at the event.
“We plan to celebrate with food, fun, and to share pictures of the past 65 years, highlight the accomplishments of the past year since the release of the State of Black Oregon and engage our community about where we are headed together,” said Marcus Mundy, Urban League of Portland president and chief executive officer.
