A garage just for bikes is the newest transportation link for students at Portland State University.
Representatives from the City of Portland, TriMet, and Metro recently gathered to open a new bike garage on the Portland State University campus and to tour the facilities.
Currently 75 percent of PSU faculty, staff, and students use transportation that doesn’t rely on single-use automobiles to get to campus with bicycling the most rapidly growing mode of student transportation.
The city provided $200,000 in funds to help build the bike garage as part of its commitment to alternative transportation and its partnership with PSU
The new bicycle garage utilizes “double decker” parking in order to maximize space and includes an eco-roof. PSU now has over 2,000 bike parking spaces on campus and continues to add more to meet demand.
