A gathering of strong black women will once again take place on Saturday, Oct. 30, when the Healing Root Center presents a forum to renew your mind, body and spirit with empowering workshops, creative activities and a healing circle that creates a safe space to talk, laugh, bond, release, and just be.
The gathering at the Emmanuel Temple Community Room, 1033 N. Summer St., continues a tradition that began when former Sen. Avel Gordly spoke at a Redefining the Blues forum in 2009. More than 300 black women attended that event at the Curious Comedy Theater. Participants listened, laughed, healed, lighted candles and then ate gumbo.
Gordly will again be part of an impressive lineup of empowered black women healers attending the upcoming session, sharing their wisdom, talents and expertise.
Early registration is $20. Otherwise tickets are $25 at the door or $20 for seniors and students. Teens are welcome! Tickets include a hot lunch, Zumba class, gift bag and access to all workshops. Register at healingrootscenter.org.
