The Portland Police Bureau, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers, is asking for your help in solving a homicide that occurred on Thursday, Oct. 21 at Southwest First Avenue and Sheridan Street.
Officers responded to a bus shelter at the location to assist medical personnel with a deceased male. Officers arrived and found 50-year-old Donald Ray Polk dead of apparent stab wounds. Homicide detectives were called to the scene to begin an investigation into how Polk died.
Detectives are asking for the public’s help in this investigation.
Polk or “Pokey” as he was known to his friends is believed to have been homeless at the time of his death and detectives do not know where he might have been regularly staying.
Detectives would like to hear from anyone who saw Polk, knows where was staying or anyone with information about any disturbances in the area between Wednesday evening Oct. 20 and the next morning. Detectives have learned that Polk was last seen alive at approximately midnight at the 7-11 store at Southwest First and Arthur.
