Jaime Lee Michael Sims, 30, an ex-felon and gang member from Portland, was sentenced Monday to serve 70 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Sims was charged with selling a .22 caliber handgun, 18 rounds of ammunition and cocaine to a government informant. Authorities said he previously had convictions for attempted assault and unlawful use of a weapon for shooting up a house in 2001 occupied by a rival gang member, his wife and five children.
U.S. District Court Judge Garr King directly addressed Sims at sentencing, telling him that “the public requires protection from you, given your history.”
