Write Around Portland, the community-building organization that sponsors writing workshops for people who are in poverty, dealing with illness, facing isolation or experiencing other barriers, celebrates the completion of its 34th anthology, titled Look Out On Your City/Mira tu ciudad.
The public is invited to take part in the book’s release and a free public reading on Friday, Dec. 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1838 S.W. Jefferson.
Readers will include transgender adults, burn survivors, adults living with mental illness, youth at an alternative high school, sexual assault survivors, low income housing residents, and Willamette Week publisher Richard Meeker.
Admission to the reading is free, but donations of any amount are accepted to support the work of the group. For more information, visit writearound.org.
