NIKE’s Rose City Showcase this weekend
Before Dwight Howard became an NBA All-star, before Josh Smith and Gerald Green won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, before O.J. Mayo, Michael Beasley, and Kevin Love became All-Americans and before Brandon Rush and Mario Chalmers led Kansas to the 2008 NCAA Championship, they all had one thing in common – they participated in the Rose City Showcase by NIKE.
On Friday, June 17 through Sunday, June 19 at Lewis and Clark College, the 9th annual event will bring the nation’s top grassroots basketball players and future college and NBA stars to a battle for the 2011 Rose City Showcase crown.
Opening night will kick off with four Super 17 match-ups including AAU national powerhouses Spiece Indy Heat (Ind.), Baltimore Elite (Md.), Team 94 (Calif.), Team Takeover (D.C.), ICP Portland, California Supreme, Boo Williams Summer League (Va.) and Seattle Rotary Select.
The weekend’s top featured players in the country from the high school classes of 2012 and 2013 include D’Vante Smith-Rivera, Trey Lyles, James Robinson, BeeJay Anya, Justin Anderson, Jamal Ferguson, Samuel Cassell, Aaron Parham, Roschon Prince, Torren Jones, Anthony January Jr. and Anrio Adams.
The Rose City Showcase champion will be crowned at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 19 at Lewis and Clark, where all Super 17’s feature games will be held. All other divisional games will tip off Saturday morning at Lewis and Clark, Beaverton Hoop YMCA and Warner Pacific College.
A portion of the proceeds for this year’s event will benefit local non-profit, Inner City Player Athletics.
