Chess players step up their game -literally to play on the jumbo-sized chess board at Director Park, Portland’s newest urban space at 815 S.W. Park. Ave. ‘Big Chess,’ features a 16 by 16 foot built-in chess board with 25 inch chess pieces and are free to play for all ages and abilities. The pieces are set up daily, with exceptions for scheduled events, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
