Lady’s Basketball Coach Reaches Out

As a way to empower and increase support for Roosevelt’s female basketball program, the New Head Varsity Coach of the Roosevelt Girls Basketball team announced their plans to increase family, community, and business support for the upcoming school year.

“As we develop our Lady Rider’s Basketball Program we invite you to join us on our journey,” said Nike Greene, the new head coach for the Girl’s team. She said the immediate goal for the upcoming year is to have three strong teams, including a freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity team, which will help develop a stronger and more competitive program.

Historically, she said, girl’s athletics have taken the back seat in established budgets, support, uniforms and more, and community support is essential for the success of our program.

In an effort to eliminate those challenges, the coaching staff and team asks the community to support the Lady Riders to help receive new equipment and uniforms make the student-athletes proud, competitive and presentable, both on and off the court.

This year she expressed her excitement for their coaching staff, whose philosophy is three-fold. “We embrace and develop the person, student, and athlete,” she said. “We believe that every young lady that enters into our program, are first students and then, athletes.
