Making a Positive Difference

Community advocates invited to share ideas

Area residents are invited to get a sampling of the amazing grass-roots efforts that are making a positive difference in neighborhoods throughout Portland.

A sharing ideas panel will gather on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in St. Johns at the Bureau of Environmental Services Water Laboratory, 6543 N. Burlington.

The event will feature panelists from Compass Junction, a neighborhood effort to build a strong, vibrant community in Cathedral Park; the African Youth and Community Organization which brings together youth across cultures and helps them to achieve success through soccer and mentoring programs; and the St. Johns Farmers Market, a collaborative effort that works to support a local, sustainable food supply and enhance the vitality of the St. Johns community.

The outreach is coordinated by Our United Village, a local non-profit that provides resources and opportunities for neighbors to get to know one another.

For more information or to RSVP, call Our United Villages at 503-546-7499.
