The 66-year-old owner and founder of Zupan Markets died Tuesday from injuries suffered Monday night when the motorcycle he was driving on Northeast Marine Drive was hit by car that crossed the center line of traffic east of 138th Avenue.
Police said John James Zupan’s motorcycle was struck head-on by a Honda Civic driven by Edy Porfirio Reynoso-Ramires, 32.
Reynoso-Ramires was arrested for driving of the influence of intoxicants, speeding, reckless driving and failing to perform the duties of a motorist. He was accused of fleeing the accident scene on foot but was quickly captured by officers responding to the crash.
