Black Railroad History Wanted

A local organization is calling for the community’s help to keep black history alive.

The Oregon Black Pioneers is looking for vintage artifacts and photographs depicting the experience of Portland’s African Americans and their families who worked for the railroads from 1800s to the mid-1900s.

The memorabilia will be featured at the Oregon Historical Society Museum this year.

To share your objects, artifacts and images, contact Jackie Peterson-Loomis, exhibit registrar at Jackielp@comcast.net.  For additional information about this exhibit, contact Gwen Carr, Exhibit Project Manager at gwecar@comcast.net.
