The B-52s will bring their 35th-anniversary tour to Portland June 22 as part of the Oregon Zoo’s summer concert series.
Another summer of music and fun on the lawn
The Oregon Zoo is gearing up for another season of great music, warm weather and fun on the sprawling concert lawn. Tickets for the zoo’s 2012 summer concert series, presented by Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon with support from U.S. Bank, are now on sale.
With 20 exciting musical acts over the course of 16 shows, the series kicks off with “World’s Greatest Party Band” the B-52s on June 22, and will showcase a variety of world-renowned artists — from reggae superstar Ziggy Marley to blues legend Buddy Guy to hometown heroes Pink Martini — before finishing in mid-September with a performance by classic-rock favorites Chicago. Other notables this year include Jimmy Cliff, Melissa Etheridge, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, k.d. lang and Rosanne Cash.
“We’re making an Oregon summer tradition even better this year,” said Kim Smith, zoo director. “Our diverse concert line-up has something for everyone, plus we’re adding some delicious new food and beverage options.”
Tickets may be purchased in person at the zoo during normal operating hours. Tickets can also be purchased (with service charge) at all Ticketmaster ticket centers.
