Kate Sinnott, a senior at Central Catholic High School, was crowned queen of the 2012 Portland Rose Festival Saturday to officially leadoff the festival’s largest single day spectator event, the Spirit Mount Casino Grand Floral Parade.
The Queen’s Coronation presented by Pacific Power warmed up the house at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum before the 4.2 mile parade started with its array of amazing floats, beautiful costumes and fancy horses. It was the 100th edition of the Rose Festival’s all-floral parade.
Sinnott is from southeast Portland, the daughter of Bill and Kathy Sinnott. She is a peer mediator at Central Catholic, a member of her school’s junior varsity tennis team, and newspaper. She plans a future career in design.
