A local chapter of the American Bridge Association is seeking to expand their membership. The only prerequisite to playing bridge is a desire to learn. Everyone is welcome, from young people to senior citizens.
Bridge is a partnership card game derived from “Whist.” It is one of the most challenging games you can play. If you like to play cards, you will love bridge. If you’re looking to meet new people, exercise your brain and learn a competitive game you can do sitting down, bridge is for you.
The American Bridge Association was founded in 1932 by a group of African-Americans in Virginia whose efforts to play tournament bridge was frustrated by the overt racial discrimination of the time. Today however, ABA members join and play with other bridge groups nationally and internationally. Members are social-minded, support community events and provide funds annually for college scholarships.
