Today is the last day to register to vote if you want to weigh in on special Jan. 26 election that will decide the fate of two controversial tax measures.

Measures 66 raises taxes on individuals making $125,000 a year and households making $250,000.

Measure 67 ups the $10 corporate minimum to $150, in addition to imposing more taxes on receipts and increasing other fees.

For more on the issues, be sure to pick up tomorrow’s copy of the Portland Observer for our look at the issue.

You can print out a copy of the voter registration form here.

New registration needs to be post-marked today. Or you can just drop it off in person at 1040 Southeast Morrison Street.

I can’t speak for Measure 67, but if I was an individual making over $125,000 a year I would certainly vote yes on 66. Call me a socialist, but our schools are failing, health care is a joke, and if a person has the choice between helping these public institutions and getting the latest Wii game, the choice is pretty clear.
