Portland Community Media and the PDX African American Film Festival present the first annual Summer African American Film Festival series, showcasing four free family-friendly classic African American films with showings at sunset in the parking lot at Portland Community Media, 2766 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Local community leaders will present the films each month on June 29, July 27, Aug. 31, and Sept. 7. Food carts will visit the site each of the evenings to provide delicious snacks. Guests are welcome to bring picnics, as well.
Community organizations will have an opportunity to set up booths or tables to promote their activities and opportunities to the community.
The festival kicks off Saturday, June 29 with the movie Sounder; followed by The Wiz on July 27; For Love of Ivy on Aug. 31; and Watermelon Man on Sept. 7.
