The Eliot Neighborhood Association is bringing back summer and fall 'Concerts in the Park,' multicultural events for family and friends starting Thursday, July 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
 A series of summer and fall 'Concerts in the Park' return to Dawson Park, across from Legacy Emanuel Hospital in north Portland, starting Thursday, July 22 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Sponsored by the Eliot Neighborhood Association, the first of three free concerts will include guest speaker Byrd, live jazz by the Yugen Music Project and Joe Bean Keller as the MC.

Participants are invited bring a blanket or low lawn chairs. You can also purchase food on site with meats provided by Cason’s Fine Meats, a local and longtime African American business, or pack a picnic and snacks.

 
The family-friendly event will also include a kids activity area provided by Irvington Co-operative Preschool. A storytelling booth will be dedicated to learning about Eliot’s history and for community residents to tell their own stories.


The other concert dates are Aug. 26, Sept. 16 and Oct. 7.
