Celebrity Game for Black Scholars

Hood Classic coming Aug. 21

Comedian Adee McCovy will serve as emcee for Hood Classic Celebrity Basketball event.


The invitation is out to join a celebrity basketball game supporting scholarships for Black students to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities and other efforts that invest in inner city youth, such as quality education training, college tours and other outings. The Hood Classic Celebrity Basketball event will be held Saturday, Aug.21 at Gresham High School, 1200 N. Main Ave., starting with a pregame party at 1 p.m. and celebrity game at 2 p.m. Comedian Adee McCovy will serve as emcee. Sponsored by two Black brother and sister organizations, Dr. Audrey Terrell’s DATI Institute in Gresham and the MOCHA Program in Seattle, the game will draw top high school, college, Pro Am and celebrity players from Portland, Tacoma, Seattle, Vancouver and Gresham. There will also be a live DJ spinning all the greatest hip hop tunes; music artist performances; and food for sale in the concessions. Tickets are $15.
