Community Celebrates Paul Knauls

Virtual salute to honor his 90th birthday

In honor of his 90th birthday, the Albina Music Trust is inviting the community to take part in “A Paul Knauls Celebration” a virtual salute to the long time Black entrepreneur, soul music affectionado and Portland community ambassador.


Known affectionately as “The Mayor of Albina,” Paul Knauls Sr., is a person who continues to inspire and strengthen bonds in our community.


In honor of his 90th birthday, the Albina Music Trust is inviting the community to take part in “A Paul Knauls Celebration” a virtual salute to the long time Black entrepreneur, soul music affectionado and Portland community ambassador.


Hosted by his son, Paul Knauls Jr., and featuring such Portland luminaries as Lew Frederick, Renee Mitchell, Norman Sylvester, Joyce Harris, Ken Berry, Laketha Elliot, Bill Deiz, Michael Grice, Fay Burch and Roy Jay, the event will stream online on Friday, Jan. 22 from 6:30 p.m.to 8 p.m. at worldartsfoundation.org, the World Arts Foundation Facebook page, Albina Vision You Tube and on XRAY-FM.


The free event is made possible with financial help from the Multnomah County Cultural Coalition and the Oregon Cultural Trust.
