Lifestyle, community affairs show moves to KPDX
Emmy and Telly award-winning TV and radio host Tra’Renee Chambers has started her second season of ‘Situations and Conversations with Tra’Renee,’ now on Saturdays on Fox 12+ on KPDX.
Tra’Renee Chambers, an Emmy and Telly Award-winning television and radio host, has officially launched the second season of her own, weekly televised show, now airing on Saturdays on Fox-12+ on KPDX from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Chambers is the first and only African American woman to host and produce her own TV show in the greater Portland metro region. “Situations and Conversations with Tra’Renee” provides a blend of lifestyle and community affairs programming.
As a woman and host of color, Chambers said her goal is to address racial justice issues, give voice to topics of the underserved and communities of color, and inspire the community to elevate its consciousness with her “Five E’s:” Elevate, educate, empower, enlighten and entertain.
In addition to airing on FOX 12+ on KPDX, the show is also available on YouTube. The first season of “Situations & Conversations” was launched last March on KATU-TV.
Planned topics for the new season include reports on change agents with the Oregon Justice Resource Center who are fighting white supremacy in Oregon; white parents raising children of color; mass incarceration; mental health and its impacts on communities of color; and how to brand yourself.
“This is a true testament to the value and priority I place on using my platform to educate, empower, and entertain our community,” Chambers said.
Also new this year is an “artist’s spotlight” featuring local entertainers, including hip hop artists, singers, and B Boy dancers will play or sing a set on the show each week. And for one special episode just in time for Valentine’s Day, Chambers will offer discounts and deals on her favorite local, minority-owned products.
Season two also begins a partnership with Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI) as the show’s presenting sponsor. SEI is a comprehensive, one-stop resource for youth and families, primarily African Americans and others living in poverty or seeking culturally responsive services. SEI is also one of the city’s leading multi-service organizations, providing thousands of youth, families, and adults with a wide array of education and social services on an annual basis.
Editor's note: Correction was made to show "Situations and Conversations with Tra'Renee" now airs on Fox-12+ on KPDX (not KPTV).
