Become A Rose Festival Clown, It’s No Joke!

The Portland Rose Festival is looking for a few fun people, ages 13 and up, to join the zany and wacky Rose Festival Clowns, now in its 16th year. The Rose Festival Clowns are the festival’s elite amateur entertainment core of volunteers specializing in practices and acts of wonder. No prior experience required.
Local physical comedian, actor and Rose Festival Official Clown Prince, Angel Ocasio, is directing the Rose Festival Clowns for the Portland Rose Festival. "What I'm looking for is the classroom cutup who entertained their friends with feats of wonder, silliness and clowning. I'll show them how to turn it into a circus act and train them to become a part of our volunteer circus program," said Ocasio.
Application deadline is February 29, 2024. Auditions are on March 13, 2024, by appointment only to tell a joke, do a magic trick, play a musical instrument, juggle or spin a yo-yo. Think outside of the box or play in the box.
Clown workshop on April 13 & 14, 2024. Accepted applicants must participate in a 2-day Clown Workshop. They will receive a makeup kit, a clown nose, costume, and learn various circus and theater skills. For any questions email Angel Ocasio at angelo@rosefestival.org.
